Rethinking my position, posture

This past weekend, I've been learning from Katy Bowman in the mountains of North Carolina.
Katy has written many books on how to move our bodies. Her most recent book is called "Rethink Your Position."  The name of the class I'm here for is "A Better Back: Moves to help your spine last a lifetime."

The first night we unwound from our travels, I realized I was holding a lot of tension traveling to an unfamiliar place.

We've spent time pretending we are in a back spasm (I know them all too well) and learned how to get out of this spasm.
We learned where our head needs to rest on the neck. (check out the picture; I'm still working on this!)
We learned how to segment our hips and ribs so they can move independently.
We learned the hips are a direct link to a healthy spine.
We learned the importance of moving in all ways to keep our spine strong.

Oh, and for a few of you, I'm ready to get your brain to turn on and off your glutes😂.

I also received the most amazing Ayurvedic massage with no limit to the sesame oil used. I highly recommend this type of massage if you've never experienced it.

So, I've spent a fantastic weekend learning for you and learning for me. Being surrounded by mountains and trees and being with others who love to geek out on movement.

If you're looking for a great book on breaking down how our bodies move, Katy's book is excellent for anyone looking to keep their spine healthy. If you're looking for a class to add these movements to your movement diet, I'd love to have you join me!
