It’s been 10 days without my Apple watch and this is what I discovered.

One morning, I went to put on my Apple watch, which had been charging all night, and it was dead. I checked the plug and the Wi-Fi, and nothing! It’s now been ten days without my Apple watch, and this is what I discovered.

  1. I’m a bit addicted to how many calories I burn daily.

  2. I’m addicted to how many steps I’ve taken in a day.

  3. I miss not knowing what time it is

  4. My strap mark has tanned up

  5. I feel so much less stressed when, even though I know I’ve worked on my feet for 8 hours and made some movements, I judge myself if I don’t close the ring!

  6. I lost my sense of RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) when I used the numbers on my watch instead of checking in with my body and how it is feeling.

  7. I realized I love data, and I loved seeing the data on my rides and my walks.

  8. I hated when I did a really hard Pilates exercise and my watch asked If I was still working out!

  9. It got in the way when I used my kettlebells!

  10. I was not present when exercising, as I looked at it when a notification came in.

  11. I’m missing calls as they are no longer on my wrist-I don’t love having my phone on me all the time

  12. I only like data when It shows I was improving!

  13. I didn’t like my negative self-talk when I didn’t want to do a hard workout to close my rings.

  14. I want to participate in the movement that is fun for me, not about how many calories I burn.

  15. I love how I can change the color of my watch.

  16. The stress I felt when I left my charger at home was too much! I wasn’t sure I would get my “points” if I didn’t have it charged!

  17. And why did I think I would get a prize from Apple for closing my rings?  It never came, just a dead battery and “you can purchase a new watch.”

Well, there are a lot more reasons I’m finding, and so far, I think I’ve decided to wait a bit longer and see what happens mentally and physically using old-school metrics.

Oh, and sorry if I miss your call!
