Don’t let anyone say you can’t!
What does it feel like in your gut when someone says, “You shouldn’t or can’t do that?”
Reread those words and feel what happens right in the center of your belly.
And what if you like doing what said person told you you shouldn’t do?
If you remember my blog a while back on how the word "should" feels to me, you know I have a difficult time when someone tells me I shouldn’t do something, and I challenge myself even more.
I do believe if I listened to those who told me I couldn’t because maybe THEY were afraid FOR me:
*My back would probably be in the same place it was 15 years ago,
*My knees & ankle would probably not be as strong or mobile as they are,
*I would not have found my passion in teaching others to feel good in their bodies,
*I would not have jumped at chances to travel and explore the world
If you saw my Instagram post this past week, I explained that so many people are telling us to exercise a certain way, move at zone 2 or not move at zone 2, don’t lift heavy weights, lift heavy weights, Don’t do HIIT- Only do HIIT, You’ll get too stretchy if you do yoga. I’ve had doctors tell students never to lift anything overhead! I’ve had PTs tell me only to do an exercise a certain way, even though my body didn’t like how it felt. Don’t play pickleball because you may get hurt.
AAARGGH!!
What happens when “the experts” tell us NO, but our bodies and minds want to try it?
How do we go about living our lives and moving all ways throughout our day?
Or moving in ways that feel good in our bodies?
and…
What happens when:
*our body wants to run one day and walk slowly the next?
*Wants to lift heavy one day, and one day, 3 pounds feels out of reach?
*Wants to strengthen from our center and stretch our limbs in all ways?
*Wants to rest and digest with slow movement?
*When we stop listening to that center of our gut that tells us what it wants from us?
*When we sit too long, and our body wants to get up and move?
Our bodies are built to move in all directions to live life easily. Let’s listen to our bodies and how they feel like moving on a particular day so we can move all the ways to keep our hearts & bones strong, our bodies balanced, and our joints juicy.
