Who are your cheerleaders?
The leader of my entrepreneur's coaching group asked us to bring a new idea to those who are our best cheerleaders.
When I left the Pilates Reformer Studio I worked at for 4 years I had no idea what I was going to do with all my years of training and with my students! I learned then who my cheerleaders were. My kids, who pushed me to buy equipment and start my own studio.
Wow! So much fear!
Fast forward to September of 2020. I brought up the idea of putting my group classes online to my husband. My cheerleader, but also my accountant! :) The fear was real! I just figured out how to Zoom 6 months earlier.
My initial thoughts:
I'm too old to do this.
Who is going to come to class?
Who is going to want this membership?
I'm not Peleton, or any other "more professional" studio!
I'm just Mary!
What my cheerleader told me was "Why not you?"
Then my other cheerleaders, my 3 kids, backed him up and said, "yes mom, why not you?"
My gut kept saying, it seems like a good idea...you could add any classes you want... People can take class whenever they want.. You can add any type of class... and on and on.
Oh, but the fear!!
In Yoga, we work hard at listening to our body, we say it over and over in class. We speak to our students about the 3rd Chakra (from navel to breast bone)- our source of personal power. What's a Chakra you ask? Read HERE.
Fear usually keeps us from listening to our gut. We then look to others outside of us to be our cheerleaders. But our intuition-what our body really wants from us- is our best cheerleader. Click here for a great article on tapping to help walk you through this.
Because the fear is real!
For me, as someone who tends to overthink, I look to my cheerleaders before listening to my gut for what I want or need. This is a continuous journey!
Next time you have to set a goal or have a new idea, try to be your first cheerleader and then get the rest of your squad around your goals and dreams.
And...I still have fear...but thank you all for believing in me and being a part of my squad, even if you just open up this email!
This quote from Yung Pueblo's book works really well this week too!
True power is living the realization that
you are your own healer, hero, and leader
