Let's check in on our habits:

(all quotes by James Clear)
“Goals are good for setting a direction, but systems are best for making progress.”

One of my favorite parts of teaching is listening in on the habits you have made as part of your day.  There are a few that have struck me in the past month and it got me to thinking about James Clear’s book “Atomic Habits”

“Success is the product of daily habits—not once-in-a-lifetime transformations.”

My mother started her iso band exercises and did them every morning in the chair that she told me was her great grandfathers.  Well the leg on the chair broke and with it the habit of daily iso band exercises.

A client told me they haven’t rolled out after biking as the foam roller was put away last winter and they haven’t gotten it back out - we both thought it would be a good idea to put the foam roller by her bike, so it will remind her to roll right after her ride.

Another client used to put on her yoga toes as she sat down for the night and they were moved to another location and the habit was quickly broken.

James Clear talks about having systems in place to make a good and bad habit stick.

“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

Some of you have kids that are headed back to school and new systems are needed to be put into place to make yours and their days flow.  What systems can you all put in place together to make your mornings/nights less stressful?

Have you stopped putting your exercise plan on your calendar and then plan other things?

Check in this week with your systems and the healthy habits you want to put in place and the unhealthy habits you want to stop.
