Let’s celebrate!

Let's celebrate all the women in your life.

The month of March is National Womens history month. There is so much focus on the women who make news, and who's stories are told, but what about the women close to us who's stories we know or maybe don't really know?

Let's celebrate! All the women in your life!

The one's who lift you up every day. The one who listens, the one who hears the crack in your voice and calls to make the sure crack is easing. The one who bathed you, who raised you, who prayed with you. who is vulnerable with you.

You're broken down and tired
Of living life on a merry go round
And you can't find the fighter
But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
And move mountains
We gonna walk it out
And move mountains

This month also marks a year since the world shut down. We may have felt like we were on a merry go round- and not the fun kind. Let's celebrate the history of the last year for the mother's who felt broken down and tired, the teachers, the nurses, the doctors. The woman and men who comforted them. Let's celebrate the women in your life who stayed close, who zoomed with you, who laughed with you, who walked outside with you, who didn't judge you and didn't shame you.

And I'll rise up
I'll rise like the day
I'll rise up
I'll rise unafraid
I'll rise up
And I'll do it a thousand times again
And I'll rise up
High like the waves
I'll rise up
In spite of the ache
I'll rise up
And I'll do it a thousand times again

Here's to my mom for her strength as a female raising 9 children-oh the strength! I can only imagine the feelings and thoughts she shoved away so she could stay "strong" Teaching me the power of volunteering and giving to a community to make sure every child is educated, and that girls have the same opportunity as boys.

To my friend Joanie, who felt it was so important for woman to go back into the workforce, for helping me ignite my passions- with out her support I would probably not be teaching yoga and pilates.

To my daughters who give me the confidence to keep moving forward in this world of entrepreneurship.

All we need, all we need is hope
And for that we have each other
And for that we have each other
And we will rise
We will rise
We'll rise, oh, oh

We'll rise

To the women-YES YOU, that I have connected with through my teaching. You continue to empower me to keep giving the gift of movement.

I'll rise up
Rise like the day
I'll rise up
In spite of the ache
I will rise a thousand times again
And we'll rise up
High like the waves
We'll rise up
In spite of the ache
We'll rise up
And we'll do it a thousand times again

"Song by Andra Day"

A few newsletters ago I spoke about "completing the stress cycle". I'm finding lately that I complete my stress cycle often by taking a car ride and blasting music. This is the latest song I'm blasting by Andra Day.

I love the saying "we rise by lifting others". It's so hard for me when women forget to lift each other up, no matter their beliefs, their family choices, or their political or religious affilitations. Let's remind ourselves we are free to make choices! Let's lift each other up! Let's celebrate all the woman in our lives!

This month maybe write the names of the women in your life who have lifted you up, and maybe write them a thank you, Or take a listen to an amazing woman Dr. Edith Eger, a clinical psychologist and holocaust surviver, on Brene Brown's podcast "Unlocking Us"

"Love is a four letter word - TIME". Dr. Edith Eger

Movement, love, and laughter to you!
