I’m a sucker for a list!
"I'm a sucker for a list"
I was talking to a friend the other day who said she will click on any article that has a list. That cracked me up, as I purposely don't click on anything that says:
3 days to thin thighs
5 days to clear skin
2 moves for a slim waist
Do this 1 yoga move to reduce anxiety!
I often want to...
just in case I learn something I don't know.
But when I do click, I usually discover what I knew to be click bait.
Back to lists...
Are you a list person?
Do you feel like you get more done when you write a list?
Does it cause you anxiety if the list is too long?
Does it calm you when you cross off each item when you finish the task?
I actually love when I spend the time to write a list- I feel like I achieved something. I feel like my life will be more organized, I can get the thoughts out of my head onto paper, and it's nice to cross a project off my list.
I decided to google,
"why it's important to make lists" and the
Top 4 searched questions were:
1. Why is making lists satisfying?
2. Why do lists work?
3. How do lists help us remember things?
4. Does making lists help anxiety?
Which led me down the next rabbit hole. According to Dr. David Cohen, there are 3 reasons we love to make lists:
1. They dampen anxiety about the chaos of life
2. They give us a structure & plan we can stick to
3. They are proof of what we have achieved
.I kept reading and cracked up when I ironically came upon on this article - Top Ten List for the Importance of Making Lists
I realized that in the chaos that has been the last 12+ months, our attention span is so much shorter. We need to catch peoples attention with lists. Perhaps it's because if we love making lists, it helps us feel in control. If we don't like making lists, perhaps reading one may help calm the chaos.
My relaxation list click bait for you:)
1. 1-minute of child's pose
2. 2 minutes of breathing @ 6 breaths per minute (slow breathing), which is about a 6-8 count breath. Research shows it can have amazing effects on our health.
3. 3 minutes of savasana
So...
Go write a list, or read a list or learn from a list, or don't. Just do whatever makes YOU feel happy and healthy!
