Are you foraging for more of something?
We pulled up into our driveway the other day and saw three women picking something out of our yard. I was trying to ask them what they were picking, but they got scared and ran-yes, ran- I guess they knew they were trespassing, but I was wondering what treasure was living in my yard.
A few days prior to this, our tree guy had picked something out of the yard that smelled like an onion, so I assumed that was what these women were foraging for.
The next day, I decided to try out foraging for myself. I have a deep fear of tics, so I foraged near my driveway :).
Ramps found in my yard- Spring 2026
I was pretty excited about this new adventure so close to my house, but, in all things, I was thinking about the act of foraging.
“Foraging is the act of searching for, identifying, and gathering wild food resources or provisions in the natural environment.”
While I’m going to enjoy my “ramps,” Aka Allium Tricoccum I’m also musing about things that we forage outside of the food world?
Are you foraging for more of something?
Do you feel like you are searching and don’t quite know what?
When you are searching for something in your life, consider the different ways you can access resources or provisions to help meet your needs.
For me, when I am at a crossroads and don’t know what is next, I get frustrated as I want it to just fall into place and work out perfectly!
It's always such a bummer that life doesn't work that perfectly.
I’ve learned, as I’ve followed this path of Yoga & Pilates, that each road I take may not be what I expected, but it worked out in the end. I gathered friends to teach, I gathered teachers to learn from, and I gathered family to support me.
These resources were so valuable when I was scared to make the jump to having my own studio, and then to a place where I didn’t know anyone.
I will continue to forage for new ideas, new offerings, and new ways of doing things, and I hope that as you forage through your days, you find the resources that can help you.
Oh, and according to the University of Madison Horticulture, Ramps are sold at farmers' markets, so perhaps I will see my ramps this weekend:)
