Healing is a consistent process.

When you try something new, how long does it take you to get frustrated when you are not seeing progress?

I’ve been trying to be more consistent in my weight lifting. It was usually on the “I need to do that this week” list.

I’ve been consistent for eight weeks now. Just when I was thinking, “Am I seeing any changes?” the teacher explained that it takes up to twelve weeks to see any noticeable changes.

I then gave myself a pep talk - I do that a lot!

Just because you may not see the changes, changes are happening.

~You show up every day.

~ You're consistent even when you are tired.

~You feel stronger.

~I don’t feel beat up after class - this is a big one for me. Usually, I don’t feel great after lifting.

This also made me think about those who came to my studio seeking to heal an injury.  Some people came one time and were frustrated that nothing changed.

Healing is a consistent process.

I’ve been working on this every day for 18 years. It has become a part of my day and my life. If I don’t move in healing ways, my back gets the better of me.

Are there any reasons you stopped being consistent with your movement?

What are some ways you can get back on the horse and try again?

Can you give yourself grace and maybe just put 10 minutes a day on your calendar?

Oh, and don’t forget to find the joy in your movement!  Make it fun, or it's a lot easier to stop.

Healing, growing, and strength all come from consistency.
