3 ways to change your growth mindset, in life and in the garden.
Can we grow our mindset?
Mary Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow?
So… pretty early on in my life, this is what was said to me after I told them my name.
Being the stubborn youngest, middle, oldest child (I’ll save this for another post) I always responded with:
I DON’T HAVE A GARDEN!
Yes, I spoke this in all caps!
As I became older, wiser, and definitely a bit more chill, I started growing a few things in “my garden” known as containers.
I was so excited the other day when I knew I needed a veggie at dinner and had some beautiful lettuce that I was growing right outside my door.
Which got me to thinking as I was cutting my lettuce, it’s really enjoyable when we can grow our mindset about things we were once pretty stubborn about.
Growth mindsets make my life so much easier. I try to no longer push away things I thought I wouldn’t like, and challenge myself to try new things.
Here are a few more ways we can think about working on a growth mindset:
1. Celebrate the success of others-don’t be resentful, celebrate their success and learn from it.
2. See challenges as opportunities- instead of being stubborn or seeing these challenges as roadblocks, see them as opportunities to stretch yourself and develop new skills.
3. Focus on positive actions. When you focus on your positive actions, you're more likely to see yourself as someone who is capable of learning and growing.
I believe life is too short to miss out and growth is so much more fun than being stubborn!
Remember growth is a journey, not a destination, have fun with it and If you fail, get back up and try again!
Let me know how you’ve grown in the past year, or month or week, or what you are growing in your garden this summer.
