Courage doesn't always roar
“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’” – Mary Anne Radmacher
Last Sunday I had the privilege to attend my Alma Mater's graduation. I always love listening to the speeches by the class speaker and the commencement address. I know the hours and thoughts that went into the speeches were many.
Here are a few of their words that stuck with me:
Challenge
Fear
Courage
Hope
Present
Passion
Mentor
Each day we are presented with moments that challenge us from the minute our feet touch the floor until they swing back into bed at the end of your day. Embracing these challenges and finding the courage, with a roar or a quiet voice, will encourage us to continue taking steps forward no matter how much fear we have doing it.
I’ve been working on “courage” a lot the last few months. I’m not sure why, but feel like I continually need to EN “courage” myself to face my fears, be present as I teach, hope I’m using the right language to make pilates and yoga class a joyful experience for my students, and remember that my passion is to give others an experience of movement that helps them feel good and fills their cups.
I’ve found some amazing mentors this year who have helped me challenge myself to face my fears. What they helped me realize is that we all feel fear when we try new things, but if we don’t try we may never be able to give the world the gifts we are meant to give.
So let’s find the courage and stomp on our fear as we bless this world with our gifts.
