Breathe!

Pranayama = Prana means LIFE FORCE and Yama is the ability to control that life force.

Breathing is the first sign of life and the first sign of death.

Somewhere in between we change our breathing patterns.  Why?  Life!

Often, we hold our breath. We sometimes inhale with our mouth, we breathe from just the top of our lungs and not much deeper.  Maybe you have asthma and struggle for breath, perhaps you snore, or have sleep apnea, anxiety, interrupted sleep, exercise induced asthma, perhaps you are worried about the affect of Covid on your lungs.

Learning to breath takes practice, but once you find ease in your breathing, our hope is that many of your breathing issues go away. This week we will practice breathing in all our classes.  To me breath is the most important part of our practice as it's what we have to do all day!

Years ago, I took a class just on Yoga breathing techniques and still remember the great sleep I had that night.  I hope you find some ideas to help you breathe better, sleep better, calm your anxiety or anything else that may be happening during this time.
