How can you visualize the life you want?
“I chose to shine.”
What is within us
Appears before us
When I
Think like
A cactus too long
I am all of a sudden a cactus
I am in the desert
I am without water
And not even
The one I love
Can
Touch me
So I think
Like the sun instead
And
Nourish
The growth of
All
With my
Light
And my
Warmth.

Visualization is a potent tool, a force that you can harness to shape your reality. Just as top athletes use visualization to prepare for their games, you, too, can use it to visualize a positive future.
In yoga, we use affirmations or intentions to enter our practice with a positive mindset. Of course, we have minds that we call monkey minds. We plan our future selves, get down on ourselves, overthink something we said to someone, and make up negative stories in our heads.
How can you turn these negative thought patterns into positive affirmations, visualizing a world you want to live in?
According to this article in Psychology Today:
“Numerous research studies have shown how beneficial this practice can be. Visualization is not meant to replace traditional medical interventions but can enhance them. It is also a great tool for relaxation, which can be very challenging for anyone going through physical or emotional distress.”
Each Sunday, in my musings, I write an intention you may choose to use for the week(or make up your own). Take some deep breaths and visualize your intention. Try to see where your negative thought patterns come in, and then try to rewrite the script.
How can you be light to yourself so you can shine your light on the world?
